Welcome to The Transmission Shop in Garland!
We offer an extensive FREE vehicle check up package that includes:

  • Checking your vehicle's transmission fluid
  • Examining the outside of the transmission
  • Examining the fan clutch and all exposed connections

At our Garland location, we also perform road tests free of charge.  By performing a road test, we are able to observe how your vehicle's transmission performs first hand.  From our observations, we report if there was any delayed response, harsh or soft shifting, signs of the transmission slipping, excessive noise, or unexplained vibrations.  We are then able to diagnose if the engine is the cause of your vehicle's poor performance.  Following this diagnosis, we perform a comprehensive electronic computer vehicle scan.  The computer scan will verify if a minor repair is needed.
We then look underneath your vehicle to check for leaking fluid.  While your vehicle is in this position, we are also able to explore external connections as well as the axles, drivelines, mounts, and u joints.
Each make and model of vehicle has transmission issues that are unique to that particular group of cars.  We've worked on all makes and models for over 25 years and have the advantage of familiarity with every brand and their specific transmission problems.  As an example, Ford vehicles may have issues with the transfer case if the vehicle's tires are not the correct size or are not properly inflated.  If an owner has a different size of tire installed on purpose, then the vehicle's computer will need to be adjusted.  It's possible that the pinion factors will also need to be reset.  If these measures are not taken, then problems may arise with the vehicle that can be mistaken for a failing transmission.
Certain engine problems may also be mistaken for a faulty transmission.  These may include:  bad air filters, bad fuel filters, cooling system failure, infrequent tune-ups, a restricted catalytic converter, or a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor).  Our trained specialists are qualified to diagnose as well as service these engine problems.
After the initial external inspection, if our technicians can not determine the problem, then we recommend an internal transmission inspection.  This inspection requires the total removal of the transmission from the vehicle.  Each item, or part, that makes up the transmission will be removed and inspected for wear and tear or possible damage.  If damaged parts are indeed the culprit, then we will investigate the source.  We will verify whether or not the damage was caused by normal wear or if the transmission was overheating.  If we find that the transmission was overheating, then another underlying issue is indicated.  While the transmission is outside of the vehicle, we also check for rear main oil seal leaks from the engine, the u joints on the carrier bearing, the drive shaft, the flywheel, the differential pinion seal, and the bearings.
When it comes to transmission repairs, it's a serious matter to determine whether an overhaul or complete replacement is required. There are many factors that need to considered. Trust only the best!  Come to The Transmission Shop in Garland to help you make the decision that is best for your vehicle.
Proper transmission repairs, or rebuilds, get your car back in service and running like it has a brand new transmission.  When a transmission is rebuilt, the transmission case and all of its components are thoroughly cleaned.  Our specialists check the components twice to ensure they meet our high standards.  If any of the parts do not pass our meticulous inspection, we replace them with brand new, high quality parts.  Also, if there are any recent recommended transmission updates for your vehicle, we make sure that your transmission is rebuilt according to the latest specifications.
Does you vehicle have a transmission cooler?  If so, we will perform a hot flush in order to cleanse it.  A hot flush removes any debris or contaminants that are present.  This cleansing is an important step in a transmission rebuild.
Following any transmission repairs, rebuild, or installation, we perform yet another external examination.  The vehicle is taken for at minimum of two test drives.  The mechanic who performed the transmission work is the first to take the vehicle for a test drive.  Then a second mechanic performs a test drive for the purpose of a second opinion.  After the vehicle is performing as it should, it is given one more look from below to insure that there are no leaks and that all bolts, brackets, and connection are holding securely.  Here at The Transmission Shop in Garland, we take pride in our automotive skills and services and offer a warranty to back it up.
